Our research program contains projects which are of immediate relevance to commerce as well as projects designed to create knowledge which will be drawn upon in the future. Our main research areas are:

> Applied electromagnetism - studies on electromagnetic fields in the community.

> Biophysics - new materials for prosthetics and implants, and optical analysis in nature.

> Computational materials science - molecular modelling and simulation of materials

> Diamond Synthesis - research into simple methods for the laboratory growth of diamond.

> Environmental analysis - a study on Radon emission from rocks and soils in the Sydney area.

> Millimetre wave physics - applications of millimetre-submillimetre wavelength electromagnetic radiation and development of gyrotron electron tube source.

> Physics of sport - the fundamentals of tennis and baseball impacts explained.

> Plasma physics - follow this link for research into plasma confinement, desktop fusion, and materials processing plasmas, and here for specific research on complex plasmas.

> Solar thermal energy - solar collection optics, solar selective surfaces, and thermal physics for solar thermal energy systems.

> Sustainability analysis - complex systems research using economic, social and environmental indicators such as energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and land disturbance.

> Thin film analysis and deposition - research into applications which require materials with demanding specifications on adhesion, hardness, optical properties and environmental stability.

> Vacuum glazing - science and technology of highly thermally insulating windows.
