University of Sydney, 3-4 December 2001

Organizing committee:

Elaine Sadler, Dick Hunstead, Mark Walker, (University of Sydney)
George (Nyima) Warr, Ben Chan, Tom Mauch
    Russell Cannon (AAO)
    Matthew Colless, Carole Jackson (ANU)
    Lister Staveley-Smith (ATNF)

Motivation:

Several large survey projects in Australia (2dFGRS, 2QZ, HIPASS, SUMSS) are about to be completed, making this an appropriate time both to review our experiences of doing science with these large data sets and to look to the future.

In the spirit of our recent MNRF success, the aim of the workshop is to explore the new opportunities available with Gemini and future large optical/IR telescopes, as well as with the SKA and the wide-band 'SKA demonstrators' which will soon be coming online. We plan to address some of the key science goals of these new facilities, and focus on the role of large and multi-wavelength surveys in driving the science which will be done.

Accommodation:

Please organise your own accommodation for the workshop. An accommodation list for locations both on and off campus can be found here.
