Bio:
Feng Luan obtained his Master and Bachelor degrees in Department
of Physics of Peking University in Peking (China). His research
project for the Master degree was "Micro-structured InGaN/GaN
LEDs". He joined the University of Bath as a PhD candidate
in October 2001. Under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Knight,
he developed extensive experience on design and fabrication of many
kinds of photonic crystal fibres. He also investigated the origin
of the nonlinearity of hollow-core bandgap fibres and demonstrated
the cancellation of soliton self-frequency shift in a solid core
PCF. After completing his PhD he joined the CPPM group as a postdoctor
for one year and half, during which he conducted research on the
soliton collision process in cobweb PCFs and the bend loss properties
of all solid bandgap fibres.
