Complex Systems Scholarships
The Complex Systems Group in the School of Physics is offering one or more undergraduate scholarships each year with members of the Group for research in brain dynamics, plasma physics (especially complex dusty and nonlinear plasmas), space physics, and related topics involving complex systems. Scholarships can be awarded part-time for a period or full-time during a vacation. The award amount will be determined in advance by pro-rating the time to be committed, relative to the following examples: full-time scholarships will be worth $350 per week, up to a maximum of $2100, while a part-time scholarship of 4 hours per week for 40 weeks will be worth $1600, payable in 2 equal amounts subject to adequate progress.
A scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 1 year, but applicants can reapply competitively on an equal basis with new applicants. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic record (including any previous research experience), the desired research area, funding availability, and supervisor agreement. Applications must include a full CV and a brief expression of interest, including the desired research area. Prospective applicants are encouraged to discuss their research interests and application with the potential supervisors below.
Applications are generally due by 1 March and 1 November each year, but will be considered at any time.
They should be sent to:
Associate Professor Iver Cairns (Space/Plasma), Professor Peter Robinson (Brain Dynamics/Space/Plasma), or Dr Sergey Vladimirov (Plasma/Space)
