Honours Scholarships 2009

All eligible students should apply for the University Honours Scholarship. Please note that Honours students can hold only one 'major' scholarship. If a student is awarded a University Honours Scholarship they are not eligible for a School of Physics Honours Scholarship.

University Honours Scholarships

 

The University of Sydney offers scholarships for students of sufficient merit entering Honours in 2009, whether they commence in first semester or second semester. These scholarships are available only to Australian citizens and permanent residents. Mid-year entry students are eligible; applications are only accepted once per year, so mid-year entry students for 2009 apply at the end of 2008 before commencing their Honours degree.

The University of Sydney Honours Scholarships are valued at $5000.

The application form will be available for download from the Current Scholarship Opportunities website. Applications for students commencing in either semester of 2009 should be lodged before Friday 19 December 2008.

School of Physics Honours Scholarships

 

The School of Physics will offer scholarships for students of sufficient merit entering Physics Honours in 2009, whether they commence in first semester or second semester. These scholarships are available only to Australian citizens and permanent residents.

The School of Physics Honours Scholarships are valued at $3000.

In addition, for students newly commencing at the School from interstate or outside the Sydney metropolitan area, approved relocation expenses will be reimbursed (up to a limit of $2000). Original receipts must be provided. Approved expenses may include removalist fees, petrol costs, storage costs and rental bond payments, but not including rent. The relocation allowance will be given to eligible Honours students, whether or not they receive an Honours scholarship.

Applicants who completed Senior Physics at the School will be automatically eligible for scholarships as soon as they enrol for Physics Honours, while applicants from outside the School should apply to the , specifiying their research field or fields of interest in the School, and enclosing a CV with complete academic record and any supplementary information relevant to their aptitude for research.

Applications for commencement in semester 1, 2009 should be lodged before 30 January 2009.

Applications for commencement in semester 2, 2009 should be lodged before 30 June 2009.

Medical Physics Honours Scholarships for 2009

 

The South West Sydney Cancer Service is offering scholarships to undergraduate students studying physics and undertaking a Medical Physics Honours project in 2009.

The scholarships are valued at $8000 (approximately the HECS cost for your Honours year). You will be provided with the opportunity to undertake your honours project in collaboration with SWSCS, including access to Radiation Oncology Department equipment and a clinically based supervisor. You will also be provided with further Radiation Oncology Medical Physics training.
