Taking the ISS to the World: Webcasts and Podcasts
Between 1960 and 1979 the ISS lectures were televised in Australia, with audiences
estimated at up to 100,000. Many people have told us they recall waking
up early on Sundays to catch the telecast,
and one School of Physics staff member is adamant that the televised
lectures were a key part of her decision to become an astronomer.
Once again, the ISS is using the latest broadcast technology
to reach outside the lecture theatres to the world beyond today's equivalents of the telecasting are webcasting and podcasting, and so the ISS2007 lecture series is available on-line. Also available are the lectures from the ISS2005.
The ISS Book
Each International Science School lecture series is compiled
as a book -- professionally designed, edited and bound, the ISS
Book is a valuable introduction to the scientific fields covered
by that School, and a record of the forefront of research at
the time.
Each Scholar receives a copy of the book, as do all presenters
and supporters of the ISS. In addition, to expand the reach of
the ISS even further, a copy of the book is donated to every
high school library in Australia.
