Each year a dinner or reception is hosted by the Science Foundation for Physics and the School of Physics for staff, alumni, friends and supporters in recognition of their efforts and involvement in the year's activities. A chance to say "thank you" and an opportunity to dream up new possibilities for the future.
The Universe at Light Speed & Annual Dinner: 27 March 2008
The Physics Alumni Dinner, held 27 March 2008, was a great success. It was
terrific to meet so many alumni and friends in person. The Universe at
Light Speed sparked interesting questions and discussions and will be
likely to make an encore appearance as part of the Sydney Science Forum in
the near future. Thanks to our Federation Fellows, Professor Joss Bland-Hawthorn, Professor Ben Eggleton and Professor Bryan Gaensler.
The Dinner also saw Mrs Louise Davis, immediate Past-President, Science
Foundation for Physics graciously hand over the reins to incoming
President, Mr Trevor Danos. Mr Danos is an ISS alumnus and an avid
supporter not only of the Foundation but also of science. As a lawyer
currently working through a Bachelor of Science the Foundation looks
forward to benefiting from his insightful input and enthusiasm. See dinner photographs here.
Gala Reception: 11 July 2007
The Gala Reception has been a highlight of the Professor Harry Messel International Science School for many years. In 2007 it became a bigger event as staff, alumni, friends and supporters of the Science Foundation for Physics were invited to mingle with the 140 science school scholars from 9 countries, thus witnessing first hand the excitement and reward of the flagship Foundation-supported School of Physics activity.
