It's not what you say, it's what you do!
Our OSA Student Chapter runs several activities during the year to promote optics/photonics within the university community, and to create a friendly environment for students of all ages and departments to socialise. Our activities include:
Student talks: 4 times a year
A 20 minute presentation by an honours/postgraduate student about his/her research, aimed to promote the research activities at the university. The presentation is followed by FREE PIZZA and a tour of the lab where the research takes place.
BBQs!
Two BBQs (FREE of course!) are held each year; one early on in first semester, and the other at the conclusion of second semester!
Careers in Optics Forum
A short forum with representatives from both academia and industry to discuss career opportunities in optics in universities (eg academic research, postgraduate studies) and in industry (eg. engineer, sales consultant, business development). More information to follow.
