Some 18 months ago, former U.Syd. expert-simulationist-in-residence Mike Steel (now at Macquarie Uni) gave us the low-down on a few of the concepts surrounding photonic crystals.

Mike's come through with the presentation slides he used in this tutorial - a handy overview of some of the trickier to get physical concepts regarding photonic crystal behaviour.
