Hi everyone,

Forwarding an email regarding a national survey being conducted by the Chief Scientist Office to survey people for their perspective on and experiences of research assessment practice, brought to my attention by the EMCR Forum (https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/L6MTCP7LAXf0oDO5BuzywFS?domain=science.org.au). The survey is aimed at individuals filling it in to convey their experience, and doesn't take too long (maybe ~15 min), my understanding is that it will be used to make a case for improving how researchers are assessed in Australia.

Worth putting your perspective into! Let me know if you have any questions about it or the Forum.

thanks
Vanessa

Hi EMCR Forum present and past members,

This is an important and timely project, that goes along the lines the Forum and many other research networks have explored in the past few years. It comes from Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Cathy Foley, and I strongly encourage all of you - any career stage, any life/career experience - to share your views and encourage your network to do the same. Responses to the survey are confidential.

The Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA) and the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia are seeking the views of researchers in Australia on how research assessment practices in universities, government departments and agencies, not for profits, and the private sector shape research careers and how such practices influence researchers’ choices and priorities.

The consultation is being undertaken for Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Cathy Foley and will inform her advice to Government on the future of assessment practices in Australia’s research system.

You can find out more about the project at https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/huvBCQnMBZfX3D8NniPtXJV?domain=acola.org and take the 15-20min survey (link here: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/_k1ACROND2uGRKJgwHPVq0P?domain=researchassessment.acola.org<https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/_k1ACROND2uGRKJgwHPVq0P?domain=researchassessment.acola.org/>) by Monday 12 June.

Thank you for considering taking the survey.

Wishing you a great weekend
Raffaella
