Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow for Women in STEMM (2 positions, closes 12 July 2023)



In support of the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) focus on gender equity and its Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Athena Swan Action Plan, the University is seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Fellows for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM). These roles are only open to applicants who identify as women or non-binary. Astrophysics is an identified field of research for these positions.



UniSQ is a multi-campus, top-100 Young University Rankings institution whose flagship top rated astronomical and space sciences research is supported by a dedicated Centre for Astrophysics within the Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences.



UniSQ’s Mt Kent Observatory hosts MINERVA-Australis, comprising multiple robotic telescopes and a precision radial velocity spectrograph, and Shared Skies Partnership telescopes, all used for exoplanet science allied with the NASA TESS mission. In addition, the site hosts a SONG stellar seismology observing node and a DLR SMARTnet space debris monitoring facility.  The Observatory is partly supported by the NASA/NSF NN-EXPLORE program.



UniSQ hosts a High Performance Computing cluster, leads the Innovative Launch, Automation, Novel Materials, Communications and Hypersonics (iLAuNCH) space program, and is involved in multiple research collaborations, including the Vera Rubin Observatory Australian Consortium, the Global Fireball Observatory, SSERVI Australia, the BCool magnetic fields of cool stars project, and the Twinkle Space Mission.

Location: Toowoomba, Springfield or Ipswich Campus

Term: 2 x full-time fixed-term appointments for 3 years (37.5 hrs/week)

Salary: Total remuneration range $119,401 to $141,128 pa (includes salary range of $100,888 to $119,246, employer superannuation contributions up to 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
