Ethanol Production

This project aims to develop methods of utilising surface immobilized enzymes to facilitate the production of ethanol. Having enzymes attached to surfaces rather than in solution will allow their easy removal and replacement as well as the implementation of strategies to avoid their poisioning due to high concentrations of reaction products. The continuous flow processes enabled by such a technology should be significantly more efficient than batch methods.
