The inaugural Early & Mid Career Researcher (EMCR) Workshop of the Sydney Institute for Astronomy (SIfA) was held on 30th July 2015.

The morning was split into two sessions: a selection of short talk in session 1, followed by three sets of parallel panel sessions in session two. Participants were split into three groups and attended two panel sessions, and a "CV-surgery". Panellists opened the discussion with a one-minute introductory sparkler talk and then fielded questions from the floor. The CV-surgery had a less-traditional format. Each participant brought along a one-page resume-style CV and sat in small groups with 2-3 panelists, who offered sage advice (a kind of CV speed date!). After a networking lunch the afternoon was left free for unstructured discussions.
