### OBSDATE ### 20100111 ### LOGDATE ### 100112 ### OBSERVERS ### ACR, ACC, MJI ### WEATHER ### Cloudy for the first ~hour, but then clear. Seeing seems good (i.e. the south image doesn't turn into 2 speckles) ### LOCATION ### SUSI ### PROGRAM ### Orion ### SIDEROSTATS ### n3 s2 ### TARGETS ### bet ori, gam ori, del ori, eps ori, tet ori ?, zet ori ?, eta ori ? alf and bet cmi (idea is diameter verification and calibration) ### PROBLEMS ### THE FRINGES WERE BAD WHEN THE CART WAS GOING AT ~300 MICRONS/S AND WERE PERFECT WHEN GOING AT 0 MICRONS/S. THE PROBLEM WITH SUSI'S INTERMITTENT FRINGES RELATES TO THE CART. There was a giant mystery sidcon lag at one point... that _wasn't_ fixed by restarting sidcon... but seemed to be fixed by restarting PAVO and removing one of the PAVO GTKs. The ~2mm error on opcon while trying to track fringes was a real problem. The north beam wasn't great, and we're unsure of just how good the alignment is on N. S really seems quite good. An interesting bug... if PAVO has fringes *before* being send its search, then it gets sent its search *after* reporting good fringes. At dispersion numbers bigger than or equal to ~2m of air, it was pretty clear that the fringe peak was broader. No science (except maybe commissioning on procyon)... we really need both a working cart and working LDC. Saw stationary fringes in north tip/tilt beam (horizontal dark bands) which did not move at all when focus was adjusted. Saved some data of this at different focus positions.
