### OBSDATE ### 20100515 ### LOGDATE ### 100516 ### OBSERVERS ### MJI, BW ### WEATHER ### Clea ### LOCATION ### SUSI ### PROGRAM ### Test out Re-organized PAVO ### SIDEROSTATS ### n3 s1 ### TARGETS ### HR 4853, Bet Cru Searched from -2mm to 3.7mm at 9 microns/s. Maybe (?) a sniff of a fringe at 1050 microns? Fringes found at +3720mm. Needed to change the sign of the PAVO setting for coherence length. ### PROBLEMS ### Lots. This is commisioning after all. 1) The S1 beam was low on the siderostat. NOT corrected. 2) Bill had left one of the LDC plugs unplugged and the cyclades card split in two. 3) We had issues with alignment, especially with the S beam. These seemed to go away by carefully re-aligning the tip/tilt corner cubes. In particular, we made sure that the 6-way X pattern from the corner cube was on the correct beam, i.e. from the front face reflection. This was the outer beam (i.e. relative to the center of the central pier) going in to the corner cubes, which became the inner beams going out of the corner cubes. 4) We replaced the grey beamsplitters with aluminium (or silver? in an Al packet) mirrors. This made a huge difference: we suspect that the gray splitters were in fact more like 25% reflective. 5) The North beam was still pretty large, and the north pupil image seemed to be too small. Maybe this relates to the lack of aberrations now?
