### OBSDATE ### 20110323 ### LOGDATE ### 110323 ### OBSERVERS ### BAW (at home) ### WEATHER ### Cloudy. ### LOCATION ### REMOTE ### PROGRAM ### M giants. ### SIDEROSTATS ### n3 s1 ### TARGETS ### None. ### PROBLEMS ### The weather looked good enough shortly after sunset, but became hazy before any stars were acquired. The haze was then replaced by better defined clouds. The humidity sensor at S4 recovered its sanity lending credence to my theory that it was simply wet and has finally dried out. The shutter server had problems communicating with the central pier servo controller. This was the known problem of the device nodes changing. Fixed the usual way by killing thor_wheel and shutter_server, removing and reinserting EHCI USB kernel module, and restarting servers. I am still not sure why this happens though it seems to more commonly occur when people are present at SUSI: particularly when the servo controllers are fiddled with. It will happen if the controller is unplugged and then replugged while the software is running. I.e. the software has a lock on the old device, so a new one is allocated. reopen on taskmaster appears to turn on the IR LED ?? S1 started moving on its own while I was waiting for clouds to clear. Luckily, I noticed and stopped it. After re-stowing, I put it in standby. To be on the safe side, I have turned off the power altogether. Finally, I am testing automatic mailing of the observing report . . .
