### OBSDATE ### 20131207 ### LOGDATE ### 131208 ### OBSERVERS ### MJI ### WEATHER ### Clear, 90% humidity ### LOCATION ### Home ### PROGRAM ### Nova Can ### SIDEROSTATS ### n3 s3 ### TARGETS ### HR 5132 HR 9110 ### QUALITY ### Quite bad (no/almost no useful data ### PROBLEMS ### n3 wasn't operating on startup... fixed with a hard reset and a "restart_sid n3". opcon would track with a -20000 micron rate target, clearly not going at this rate. I reset the opcon software, but this didn't fix the issue. Confirmed that the opcon issue remained when tracking autocol positions. Finally found that just a cable car reset was needed (actually tried 3 times...). By this point 40 mins had been wasted and the sky was getting bright. Fringes at -370 Only actually searching for Nova fringes at 5:23am. Looked like fringes were just found at about the same spot as HR 5132... tip/tilt would come and go, and the increasing background didn't help. Maybe the moral of this story is that just "waking up early" isn't really good enough. For SUSI obs, starting at least 2 hours before dawn is a good idea. Pity about the awkward social timing of the nova during conferences.
