Solar Powered Fan
Other Relevant Demos :
Relevant Resource questions :
Concepts demonstrated :
- Conversion of radiation into electricity.
Diagram of apparatus :
diagram yet to come
Equipment needed
- solar cell
- Ammeter
- Voltmeter
- wires
- lamp
Method for setting up apparatus :
- Connect the apparatus as shown with the Ammeter in series and the
Volmeter in parallel.
- Turn the lamp on so that light falls on the solar cell.
Accessories (ie posters etc) :
None.
Physics involved :
Conversion of solar energy (EM radiation i.e. heat (??) and
light) into electrical energy. The fan then converts electrical energy into
mechanical energy.
How to use the Demonstration :
- Use the demonstration to show the conversion of light into
electrical energy.
Everyday examples :
- Solar powered fans
- solar powered traffic lights
- solar powered telephones in remote areas
