Thought experiment

Suppose you had an ice cream which had been sitting in the freezer for a week (eg a chocolate heart). The freezers temperature was fixed at -4oC. The temperature of the room is 20oC.

  1. What would be the temperature of the ice cream immediately after you took it out of the freezer ?

  2. Why do you think the ice cream would be at this temperature ?

  3. What would be the temperature of the chocolate, the stick and the wrapper ? (ask each item separately)

  4. Please explain why you said the temperature of the ice cream was at the same / a different temperature to the chocolate, stick or wrapper.

  5. If the ice cream, in its wrapper, is left on the table for one minute what would be the temperature now of each item ?

  6. Please explain why you said the temperature of the ice cream was at the same / a different temperature to the chocolate, stick or wrapper for this situation.
