Two blocks 2
Two 500g blocks made of different materials are each at a temperature of
80C. Each of the blocks is immersed into a different 2 litre container
of water, initially at room temperature. It is observed that the water
in container A settles at a temperature of 60!C while the temperature
in container B comes to a temperature of 45!C. If the two blocks were
initially at room temperature and put on a hot plate we could predict
that
A. Block A will take longer to reach a temperature of 80 degrees.
B. Block B will take longer to reach a temperature of 80 degrees.
C. Both blocks will take the same amount of time to reach 80
degrees.
D. We cannot predict which block will take lonbger to rise in
temperature unless we are given more information.
