IMPORTANT: If you have to miss a session

It is important that all tutors and supervisors are punctual and present for the entire session — your role is to make sure the sessions runs smoothly.

In the event you are  unable to make a class, you must  try to locate a substitute from the following lists: Tutors Emails (xls file) — note that it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find a replacement for a missed session.

Once a substitute is found, email the information to c.stewart@physics.usyd.edu.au
If no replacement can be found, then as a last resort email c.stewart@physics.usyd.edu.au for help.

Notes for Supervisors & Tutors

A few documents for your reading pleasure:

Material for Lab Supervisors

Some PowerPoint (aaargh!) templates for an intro talk for your first week in the lab — make sure you update these with the appropriate session code ("5ADV", "3FND" and so on) and the names of your tutors, and feel free to augment them with your own inspiring introduction to experimental physics:

Template for ADV, Template for REG, and Template for FND.

Casual Contracts & Pay Claims

If you are a casual tutor (that is, not a staff member), a contract is being prepared for you. You will be sent an email telling you when the contracts are available to be signed in the main Physics Office. To be paid you must have signed your contract.

Pay claims are now made by electronically via myHRonline, and you will need a Unikey access and password to this system.

If you are a new tutor you should receive access details in the mail about a week after you sign your contract. For general help this is the link to the ICT Help Desk.

For information on the use of the claim system, read the FAQs for Casual Timesheets.
