Necessary Parameters

Data File -contains time, position (diff) and wave field data (plus other entries if required)
-before running, insert into the IDL code
  • the name of the data file
  • number of columns and rows
  • designated columns to process/read into the IDL code
Wave Fields -fields of wave samples located in the designated column of the data file
Time -time coordinate of data samples in decimal hours
-while running specify
  • start time for analysis
  • end time for analysis
Diff -relevant position coordinate of data samples
-while running specify
  • minimum diff for analysis
  • maximum diff for analysis
  d or t -while running
  • select either the diff (d) or time (t) coordinate of the data for further analysis
Number of Points -for constructing sliding estimates for the average (mu) and standard deviation (sigma) of the logarithm of the wave fields
-while running
  • enter the number of points for the sliding averages
Bin Width -the width of the bins in the normalized field quantity X for comparison with SGT. Used in the plots and the Chi-Squared Test.
-while running
  • enter the bin width
Number of Sample Points in Each Bin - In calculating the statistical siginificance, bins having less than this required number will be ignored.
-while running
  • enter the minimum number of data points in each bin
