Excellence in Science at Wingham High School
Since 2005,
Andrew Hopkins has
sponsored an annual award for excellence in science at his former
secondary school, Wingham High.
The idea behind these awards is to encourage and motivate talented
and academically accomplished young people to pursue careers in
science and technology.
Winners of the Andrew Hopkins Excellence in Science Award:
- 2005: Megan Shultz is enrolled at ADFA in her final year of
a Science degree.
- 2006: Matthew Shultz is studying Biomedical Science at Newcastle
University, and is currently undertaking a gap year program in the RAAF; and
Mitchell Clarke is studying Electrical Engineering at ADFA.
- 2007: Jessica Taylor
Andrew Hopkins is presently an ARC Queen Elizabeth II Research Fellow at the
University of Sydney in the
School of Physics.
