ALPINE CLIMBING IN NEW ZEALAND, DECEMBER 2000
During December, 2000 Dave Dewar and I climbed in New Zealand, in the Aspiring and Mt Cook regions as part of the Sydney University Rockclimbing and Mountaineering Club's annual New Zealand summer assault. It turned out to be a succesful trip with some great weather and good climbing conditions. Following a bad winter season (apparently!) there were late falls of snow to top up the glaciers and fill in many of the crevasses. Also temperatures didn't get too high. This made it safer and quicker to get around.
