The workshop will highlight new data from the Parkes Galactic All-Sky Survey (GASS) of HI emission, the WHAM-South survey of H-alpha emission and Arecibo's GALFA survey of Galactic HI. This will also be an excellent opportunity to discuss what we hope to learn with future ASKAP surveys. The workshop will focus on the topics of disk-halo interaction, High Velocity Clouds, the Magellanic system, Galactic corona, and Milky Way dynamics. Invited speakers include: * John Dickey (U Tasmania) * Jay Lockman (NRAO-Greenbank, USA) * Greg Madsen (U Sydney) * Naomi McClure-Griffiths (CSIRO-ATNF) * Mary Putman (Columbia University, USA) * Snezana Stanimirovic (University of Wisconsin, USA) * Tobias Westmeier (CSIRO-ATNF) Essential information: * Dates: 3-4 December 2009 * Venue: ATNF, Marsfield * Registration Deadline: 15 November 2009 (free) * Abstract deadline: 15 November 2009 * Website: http://www.atnf.csiro.au/research/workshops/2009/mwgas/ * Accommodation: There is no formal arrangement for accomodation but there are a variety of local options listed at http://www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/visit/Other_accommodation.html * For more information contact: Scientific matters: Naomi McClure-Griffiths (Naomi.McClure-Griffiths@csiro.au) Registration and Logistical matters: Jennifer Lee (Jennifer.Lee@csiro.au) Regards, Naomi McClure-Griffiths Chair SOC/LOC
