Workshop on ** Stacking Techniques in Wide-field Astronomy **

Tues 23 and Wed 24 February 2010

ATNF, Epping, NSW

At the ASKAP workshops held last year, it became clear that there is  
wide interest in the use of stacking techniques (i.e. co-adding the  
signal from many weak or undetected objects to obtain a statistical  
detection) both as a means of detecting high-redshift HI with ASKAP  
and more widely in other areas of optical and radio astronomy.   
Stacking techniques are potentially very powerful tools for exploiting  
a new generation of large-area astronomical surveys, and there is much  
to be gained by sharing our knowledge and experience.

We plan to hold a 1.5 day workshop (starting at lunchtime on Tuesday  
23 Feb) at ATNF to bring together optical and radio astronomers who  
are interested in using stacking techniques.
