DATE: Thu, 16 Jul 2009 12:40:16 +1000 SUBJECT: New impact factor for PASA Dear colleagues, As I reported at the ASA AGM last week, PASA was recently granted a 2008 impact factor (IF) of 2.6. This is almost double PASA's 2007 IF of 1.4, and is by far PASA's highest ever IF. (A PDF summary of my ASA AGM presentation is at http://is.gd/1y5MK ; check out the graph on p3 to see how far PASA has come in the last 10 yrs!) To put this in context: * PASA now ranks 18th of 48 astronomy journals worldwide. The only society journals with higher IFs are PASP (IF = 3.2) and PASJ (IF = 4.4). * PASA is now CSIRO Publishing's highest impact journal. * PASA is now the highest impact non-medical journal in Australia (ranked 4th out of 73 Australian journals overall). This good news is due to the hard work of the previous Editor-in-Chief John Lattanzio, the many contributions of the PASA Editorial Board, and the many ASA members who have published highly cited papers in PASA over the last two years. For those of you who have not published with us recently, I hope the above information begins to convince you that the "new and improved" PASA is a respectable journal with a strong and increasing profile, and that it would be a worthy host for your next result. We offer free, rapid, electronic-only publication, subject to rigorous reviewing overseen by an experienced editorial board. If you are interested in contributing new results, review articles or themed issues to PASA, or if you would like any further information on submitting your papers to PASA, please contact me, or see also our WWW site at http://www.publish.csiro.au/journals/pasa . best wishes, Bryan Gaensler Editor-in-Chief, PASA
