Summer Vacation Research Scholarships in Physics and Astronomy

                 Macquarie University, Sydney 2109

The Department of Physics at Macquarie University has several summer
vacation scholarships during Jan-Feb 2009 for 6-7 weeks.

Supervised vacation research projects are available in the following  
areas:

   Astronomy & Astrophysics
   Optical Characterization
   Optical & Laser Physics & Applications
   Quantum Optics & Information theory
   Organic Semiconductors
   Photonic Materials & Devices
   Vacuum UV Sources & Applications
   Optical Imaging and Sensing for Biology and Medicine


The tax-free stipend is $490/week.

Successful applicants from outside the Sydney metropolitan area will  
receive
financial support of return travel to Sydney to take up the scholarship.

Applications close on October 2nd 2009 and should include covering  
letter,
academic transcript, CV, contact details and references from two  
academic
referees.
