Dear ASA Member.
Below is information about the next ASA/ANITA Summer School in
Theoretical Astrophysics. Can you please ensure that all postgrad
students are made aware of this opportunity.

Further, we have limited space for senior undergraduates so can you
forward this info to those completing 3rd and 4th year in 2010 (ie those
who just completed 2nd and 3rd year in 2009).

2010 ASA/ANITA SUMMER SCHOOL IN THEORETICAL ASTROPHYSICS
==========================================================

              "STELLAR NUCLEOSYNTHESIS"

Where:        Monash University
               Melbourne
When:         Jan 17-22

Subjects covered will include:
	-basic nuclear physics and reaction rate theory
	-basic stellar structure and evolution
	-massive stars, supernovae, explosive burning
	-binary stars
	-observations constraints
	-the new science of pre-solar grains
	-chemical evolution of stellar populations

The topics will be discussed at the senior undergrad level, making
them accessible to all (including PhD students working in different
fields).

Proposed lecturers include:
	-John Lattanzio (Monash)
	-Richard Stancliffe (Monash)
        -Duncan Galloway (Monash)
	-Amanda Karakas (ANU)
	-Chiaki Kobayashi (ANU)
	-Chris Tout (Cambridge)
        -David Arnett (USA)
	-Christian Iliadis (USA)
	-Alessandro Chieffi (Italy)
	-Marco Limongi (Italy)
	-Sergio Cristallo (Spain)
	-Ross Church (Sweden)

Accommodation:
	Participants will be housed in student accommodation at Monash
	University.

Meals:
	All meals are included for the days of the School Jan 18-22, except
	for dinner on Wed 20 (the afternoon of this day is free).There is a
	welcome reception on Jan 17.

Participants:
	The School is open to all Australian PhD students in
	Astronomy or Astrophysics

We also encourage senior undergraduate students (ie those taking 3rd
or 4th year in 2010, or those completing 2nd or 3rd year in 2009).
A limited number of travel scholarships are available for undergrads
to enable them to attend.
