The Anglo-Australian Telescope (or AAT) is the premier optical and infrared telescope in Australia, the primary mirror being 3.9 metres in diameter. The telescope is located on Siding Springs Mountain in the Warrumbungle National Park, about 30 minutes drive from Coonabarabran in northern NSW.
The AAT is run by the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO).
The AAT dome pokes up from behind the trees, on a (rare) clear day!
A closer look at the dome - yes, it's big.
A view from the other side of the mountain - on the right is the AAT, and on the far left is the AAO's other telescope, the smaller UK Schmidt.
