Modern Astronomy
Continuing Education courses

For many years, staff of the School of Physics at the University of Sydney have been active in the presentation of Astronomy courses to the general public through the University's Continuing Education Program.

The Courses

The Modern Astronomy courses form a sequence over two years with the following titles:

Modern Astronomy - Voyage to the Planets
A look at the solar system in the era of space exploration. Next course Semester 2, 2011.
An Introduction to Astronomy - Stars and Galaxies
Introduction to Stars, galaxies, the universe as a whole. Next course Semester 1, 2012.
Modern Astronomy - The Lives of the Stars
A more detailed look at the birth, life and death of stars. Next course Semester 2, 2012.
Seminar series
Invited astronomers talk on varied topics. Next course TBD.

Each course features an observing night in the Blue Mountains.
