MWA Solar Observation Catalog
Column Headers:
- Start: UTC start time of observation set
- Δt: Duration of continuous temporal coverage in minutes
- Obs: Number of individual Observation IDs in set
- Frq: Number of frequency channel configurations
- Cal%: Percentage of individual coarse channel observations with calibrator observations within 12 hours
- Q%: Percentage of "useable" Obs IDs (Quality = Good and Files ≠ 0)
- Radio Bursts: Number of bursts in the daily NOAA event reports
- II: Slow drift sweep-frequency radio burst
- III: Fast drift sweep-frequency radio burst
- IV: Broadband smooth continuum sweep-frequency burst
- V: Brief continuum burst, generally associated with type III bursts
- VI: Series of Type III bursts over a period of 10 minutes or more, with no period longer than 30 minutes without activity
- VII: Series of Type III and Type V bursts over a period of 10 minutes or more, with no period longer than 30 minutes without activity
- CTM: Broadband, long-lived, decametric continuum sweep-frequency burst
- RBR: Fixed-frequency radio burst
- RNS: Radio noise storm
- All: Total of the above types
- Flares: Number GOES X-ray flares
- Max: Maximum flare class
- CMEs: Number of LASCO Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) via the CACTus Catalog (beginning 2 hours prior to start)
- HEK Events: Selected events/features from the Heliophysics Event Knowledgebase (HEK)
- ER: Eruptions, mainly automatically detected using the AIA/304 (may be multiple entries for 1 event)
- FE: Filiment eruptions
- CW: Coronal (EUV) Waves
- CJ: Coronal jets and spray surges
- AR: Active regions (including only NOAA-numbered regions)
- EF: Emerging flux regions
Additional Features:
- Drop down field: icons activate a drop-down field containing additional details:
- Observation IDs: Range of observation IDs in set, linked to MWA metadata search site
- Channels: Coarse channel list preceded by the number of Obs IDs with that setting
- Calibration Obs: Number of calibration obs within 12 hrs, linked to MWA metadata search site
- List of the "best" 4 calibrator obs, ranked by coarse channel coverage and time offset
- Context: Links to date-specific context plots showing combined radio dynamic spectra, solar images, and intensity/particle plots
- NOAA Event Report: Excerpt of event report for time range, including all event types (key)
- CACTus CME Catalog: Computer Aided CME Tracking (CACTus) entries for time range, including links to movies
- ARBIS Results: Automated Radio Burst Identification System (ARBIS) results (note that 1 count may refer to multiple bursts within a short timespan, see log link for details)
- HEK Events: Details and links for the Heliophysics Event Knowledgebase (HEK) features/events.
- Column sorting: Each column may be used to sort the catalog by clicking the column headers.
- Search bar: May be used to filter using terms in the drop down field or to search by Obs ID. For example:
- 1130650440 ⇒ Set containing that Observation ID
- III/3 ⇒ "Major" Type III bursts (/[1,2,3] indicates burst intensity in the NOAA reports)
- BSL ⇒ Bright surges on the limb (can be used to find radio bursts associated with surges)
