Introductory Material: Bose-Einstein Condensation

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2001 was awarded to Eric A. Cornell, Wolfgang Ketterle and Carl E. Wieman "for the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms, and for early fundamental studies of the properties of the condensates".

The Nobel Prize advanced information on this award provides a good introduction to the area and can be found here.

Reviews of this work have been published in Reviews of Modern Physics: Cornell and Wieman review article; Ketterle review article

A short compilation of reports and commentaries published in Science on BEC can be found here.

All this material and the references contained within it should provide a good initial basis for a presentation.
