Abstract
It is shown that the interaction of Langmuir waves and
finite amplitude collision-donimated ion-acoustic waves in
a collisional plasma is governed by the coupling of a
damped nonlinear Schroedinger equation and a driven
Korteweg-de Vries-Burger equation. The system differs considerably from
the Zakharov and related systems for a
collisionless plasma.
