Excitation of Ion Sound By Langmuir Waves
Interacting with an Electron Beam in a Magnetized Plasma
Physics Letters A, Vol. 143, No. 6&7, Pp. 329-331 (1990)
Abstract
In the present paper we describe a new effect - "down-conversion" of
wave energy due to a nonlinear amplification of low-frequency
nonresonant ion sound oscillations by beam-excited high-frequency
resonant Langmuir waves. A comparison of our down-conversion's
efficiency with those of decays and scattering providing ion sound
generation is presented.
