Dear All,

We would like to announce an upcoming training session for prospective and current users of the OzSTAR high-performance computing (HPC) environment at Swinburne. This session will introduce users to the Ngarrgu Tindebeek supercomputer - the latest addition to the OzSTAR HPC infrastructure.

The session will be conducted via Zoom on Wednesday August 2nd at 11am and will run for an hour.

Topics covered will be:

  *   General overview of the hardware, user documentation and how to get started;
  *   Differences (and similarities) between OzSTAR and Ngarrgu Tindebeek;
  *   Python Environments;
  *   Time for questions.

To register your interest please send an email to <ozstar2023 at adacs.org.au> noting your name and institution. Details for connecting to the event will be sent to those who have registered prior to the date. Content will also be recorded and made available at a later date.

Ngarrgu Tindebeek translates as "Knowledge of the Void" in the local Woiwurrung language indigenous to the land on which Swinburne is situated. Installed in 2023 the machine features over 11,500 AMD EPYC 7543 compute cores and 88 NVIDIA A100 GPUs. and user documentation at https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/sc4fCjZ1N7iY1WXMvsR_2xP?domain=supercomputing.swin.edu.au

Ngarrgu Tindebeek sits alongside the OzSTAR supercomputer which has been in operation since 2018. Thanks to support from Astronomy Australia Limited (AAL) and Astronomy Data and Computing Services (ADACS) the national astronomy community will have access to both supercomputers while they operate in parallel.

The training event is jointly provided by ADACS and the OzSTAR support team.

ADACS is a collaboration between Swinburne University of Technology, Curtin University and Macquarie University. It is funded under the Astronomy National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) Program via Astronomy Australia Ltd (AAL). Funding for the Ngarrgu Tindebeek hardware was provided by the Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund (VHESIF).

Regards,

Jarrod Hurley
